Support our high school Robotics team by donating your unwanted sneakers! We're hosting a sneaker drive to not only raise money for our team, but also to help the environment at the same time.
In the U.S., at least 200 million pairs of shoes end up in landfills every year. Shoes in landfills can take up to 30-40 years to decompose. Incinerating old shoes and manufacturing new ones emits large amounts of CO2, polluting our surroundings. Plus, despite all of this waste, more than 600 million people worldwide don't even own a single pair of shoes.
To help, our HS Robotics team is partnering with GotSneakers, a sneaker recycling organization, to recycle and reuse unwanted sneakers. Since GotSneakers was founded, they estimate they have stopped 105 million pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere and have recycled or reused over 3.5 million pairs of shoes!
Our team earns money for every pair of sneakers we donate, and each pair will either be recycled or given to someone in need. Please consider donating your unwanted athletic shoes by December 20th to support this great cause!
