Sidney and Mr. Rigg will appear on the National FFA Convention stage this afternoon as Sidney this morning was announced one of the Top 4 Individuals in the National FFA Employment Skills competition! During Session 5, the final rankings will be announced. Watch live at https://www.ffa.org/. We predict the results will be revealed around 3pm central time along with other contest winners.

As Illinois' state winner, Sidney entered the National FFA Employment Skills Leadership Development Event, a demanding competition that involved 10 judged areas and two competition cuts for her to reach the finals. The contest, now in its 25th year, simulates real-world activities for obtaining employment and requires applying for a real job for which the student is qualified. Judged components include:

  • Resume

  • Cover Letter

  • Job Application

  • Virtual Interview

  • Follow-Up Email Correspondence

  • In-Person Interview

  • Handwritten Thank You 

  • Second In-Person Interview

  • Social Networking Luncheon

  • Job Offer Negotiation

Session 5 starts at 1:30pm central, and the Employment Skills winners we be announced near the end of the session at the National FFA Convention, which gathers more than 70,000 member, advisors and guests across the four-day event. See schedule below for Session 5.
