BACK-TO-SCHOOL ALL CALL (Wednesday, August 19)

To help prepare for the start of school, ALL CALL announcements will go out at 7pm each day this week. These announcements will be accompanied by a daily email, Facebook post, and update to our district website. We encourage all parents and students to reach out if there is ever anything we can do to help.

And now for tonight’s announcements.

  1. Chromebooks. Each student, PK-12, will be issued a Chromebook this fall. Students in grades 6-12 will continue using the device they were issued last year. Some of our elementary students were issued a Chromebook last spring as well. They will also continue using the same device. Everyone else will be issued a Chromebook next week. If you are a parent of one of our younger students, please communicate with your child’s teacher on expectations regarding transporting and caring for the device.
  2. If you do not have WIFI in your home, or if your child’s daycare provider does not have WIFI in their home, please contact Pam at 309.639.2219 so we can work on a solution to this problem together.
  3. All of your child’s courses should be visible in Canvas. Simply login using the Canvas button on our website. A brief Canvas tutorial recorded by Mrs. Yelm can be viewed HERE. Your child’s Canvas dashboard will be your go to page for course information throughout the year.
  4. Many people are wondering when remote learners will login to their LIVE CLASSES. Students in grades PK-4 will follow guidance from their teachers. For students in grades 5-12, all students are to LOGIN LIVE at the beginning of each class Monday 8/24 & Tuesday 8/25. After Tuesday, login expectations for the typical 5 day week are as follows.
    • Day 1 & 2 - Typically Monday & Tuesday; A GROUP LOGIN to LIVE CLASSES
    • Day 3 - Typically Wednesday; NO LIVE CLASS LOGIN
    • Day 4 & 5 - Typically Thursday & Friday; B GROUP LOGIN to LIVE CLASSES

In addition, all students LOGIN LIVE for any LAB days designated by their teacher. These are the minimum expectations. ALL STUDENTS are welcome to LOGIN to LIVE CLASSES more than expected. Here are tonight’s announcements.

  1. Beginning Monday, a daily delivery service will be available for remote learners. This will include delivery of a sack breakfast & lunch to all students who quality for free or reduced lunches. Not sure if you qualify? Check out THIS LINK, see the table below, or contact Pam at 309.639.2219.
  2. We have received several questions about Chromebooks and elementary students. Each elementary student will be issued a Chromebook this fall. We encourage all families to purchase a Chromebook case for safe travel to and from school. Please contact your child’s teacher for additional information regarding elementary Chromebook login and use.
  3. Our teachers have assembled a list of online tools we will utilize this year. It can be found HERE. The list is organized by grade band and includes links to a variety of tutorials.

FREE & REDUCED LUNCH ELIGIBILITY TABLE

  1. For students in grades K-12, CANVAS will be your teacher's main communication tool. Students can login to Canvas by clicking the CANVAS icon on our homepage and using their billtown.org email address.
  2. Canvas courses will show up in your students dashboard as soon as they are published. All courses will be published by noon Wednesday. Information on the various Canvas mobile apps can also be found on our website.
  3. Student schedules can be viewed in Skyward using the login credentials you used for online registration. Students who would like to request a schedule change should contact Mr. Binder at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
  4. If your child will be riding the bus this year, be sure to certify them as symptom-free using the form found here. Be sure to add this form to the home screen of your phone for quick and easy access.

SYMPTOM-FREE CERTIFICATION FORM (Bus Riders)

Please complete THIS FORM daily for each child riding the school bus to school. Mark the check box next to symptom-free or mark all of the COVID-19 symptoms your child is experiencing. If they are symptom-free, send them on the bus and we will see them at school! If they are experiencing any symptoms, please keep them home and notify the office.
