BACK-TO-SCHOOL ALL CALL (Sunday, August 16)

Staff have been working hard this summer to prepare for the start of school. Our efforts kick into high gear tomorrow as teachers and paraprofessionals meet on-site for a week of planning. For students, dual credit courses at Carl Sandburg College begin tomorrow and full school for everyone begins Monday, August 24.

To help prepare for the start of school, ALL CALL announcements will go out at 7pm each day this week. These announcements will be accompanied by a daily email, Facebook post, and update to our district website. If a family you know is not receiving these calls, please have them contact Wendy at 309.639.2216 so we can add them to the system.

We have also set up an email helpline to address specific questions and concerns. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. at any time. We will work to get back with you as soon as possible. This helpline will remain active throughout the year. We encourage all parents and students to reach out if there is ever anything we can do to help.

For tonight’s announcement, I would like to offer some information to help you prepare your child for the first day of school.

  1. Properly worn face masks or gaiters are required to enter the building. I encourage everyone to have their child begin this practice for periods of time at home, so they can become familiar and a little more comfortable with their face covering.
  2. Water bottles are highly encouraged. Water fountains will be off limits, but bottle filling stations will be on. Be prepared to send your child to school with a clean water bottle each day.
  3. Social distancing will be required on buses and at school. Help prepare your child for the amount of spacing that will be required between classmates.
  4. And last, since parents will not be allowed to enter the building during morning drop-off, help prepare your child for the morning hand-off outside the building.

Again, please don’t hesitate to contact our helpline oThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any questions or concerns. Additional announcements will be made at 7pm each night this week. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
